Conference “Driving the Sustainability Transition”

On 8.02 in Warsaw, the Sustainable Investment Forum Poland (POLSIF) publicly inaugurated its activities during the Driving the Sustainability Transition conference.

The event was organized by the International Sustainable Finance Centre (ISFC) Sustainable Investment Forum Poland (POLSIF) in cooperation with the British Embassy Warsaw Warsaw Stock Exchange (GPW).

On that day, representatives of the fund market, banks, international institutions and the world of science who are interested in the topic of Sustainable Finance gathered in the Stock Exchange's trading room.

The main points of the meeting were presentations:
🔸 Joanny Sikory-Wittnebel from the EC on EU regulation plans
🔸 Beata Tylman-Nowakowska on the role of the Stock Exchange in the development of Sustainable Finance
🔸 Aleksandra Palinska on the role of Eurosif - The European Sustainable Investment Forum
🔸 Krzysztof Kamiński, CFA, DI, holds CFA Certificate in ESG President of PolSiF, who outlined the missions, goals and projects that the new Association undertakes.

This was followed by a panel on Sustainable Finance transformation and market led by Julian Toth with the participation of:
🔹 Agnieszka Slomka-Golebiowska, mbank
🔹 Lucyna Stanczak-Wuczynska, BNP
🔹 Monica Nachyla, Shelter
🔹 Axel Kalinowski, London Stock Exchange
🔹 Piotr Dmuchowski, TFI PZU

The participants of the panel emphasized:
◽ the fundamental importance of the energy transition for the Polish economy
◽ leading role of banks as the main provider of financing in Poland
◽ the need for standardisation and simplification of sustainable finance regulations and requirements
◽ treating sustainable investments both as a way to manage risk but also as an investment opportunity, both in the private and public markets
◽ use of reporting and taxonomy work as a basis for changing funding strategies and directions
◽ the need for cooperation between market actors, regulators and government institutions
