A new guide for the real estate industry: EU taxonomy in practice

In 2024, on the initiative of Sustainable Investment Forum Poland, in cooperation with the Polish Chamber of Commercial Real Estate (PINK), the Polish Council of Shopping Centers (PRCH) and the Polish Association of Ecological Construction (PLGBC), a Working Group was established consisting of experts from the real estate market and representatives of the largest banks in Poland. The aim of this team was to develop practical guidelines that will help financial institutions and real estate companies to meet the technical qualification criteria of the European Union (EU) Taxonomy.

The result of the work of the Working Group is a document that constitutes a clear guide, focusing, among others, on the mitigation of climate change in the context of financing real estate projects. It provides a set of examples and recommendations to help investors, businesses and financial institutions better integrate sustainability criteria into their decision-making processes.

In addition, the study has been submitted for consultation to the Working Group on the Application of EU Taxonomy at the Ministry of Development and Technology, which further underlines its importance and practical nature.
