POLSIF TALKS #43: A Just Transition – why is the social dimension the key to the success of climate change?

For many years, climate transformation was viewed almost exclusively through the lens of environmental indicators, regulatory requirements, and CO₂ emission reductions. Today, it is becoming clear that its success depends equally on the social factor. In the latest, 43rd episode of the POLSIF TALKS podcast, we discuss how to achieve climate goals while respecting the needs of people, jobs, and local communities.

A just transition ( Just Transition) addresses one of the most important challenges of the modern economy: how to carry out a deep modernization of industry and energy without leaving anyone behind. For Poland, this issue is of key importance. The future of mining regions, combating energy poverty, and the need for mass building modernization are challenges that require a well-thought-out strategy and the involvement of many sectors.

Social issues are also increasingly permeating business practice. Sustainability requirements, ESG criteria, and regulatory guidelines mean that financial institutions and companies must include social impact in their long-term investment plans.

What will you hear in episode #43?

The guest of the latest episode is Joanna Sobótka-Klimczak, ING, Member of the Board of POLSIF. In our conversation, we cover, among other things, the following topics:

  • The social pillar of transformation – why ignoring social aspects risks social resistance and the failure of climate goals?
  • Challenges specific to Poland – how to effectively support regions during the transition period and combat energy poverty?
  • The role of the financial market and business – how can investors and companies support projects that align with the principles of a just transition?

Where to listen?
