New Banking Initiative — Joint ESG Risk Survey

New Banking Initiative — Joint ESG Risk Survey

We are delighted to share with you the results of the work of our ESG Risk Working Group.

The ESG Risk Working Group within our organization brings together experts in ESG risk management and representatives of the largest banks in Poland. The Group was established to exchange knowledge and develop common standards for ESG risk management.

In 2025, the Group's work focused on the guidelines of the European Banking Authority on ESG risk management published in January this year. One of the key topics covered during the work was the issue of collecting data from bank customers in accordance with the scope presented in the guidelines.

On the initiative of the Sustainable Investment Forum Poland (POLSIF) and in cooperation Association of Polish Banks and Credit Information Offices we have jointly developed two models of customer surveys. The thematic scope corresponds to regulatory requirements and the questions and answers are directly related to the sustainability reporting standards in force in the European Union: (1) disclosures under the CSRD Directive and (2) the voluntary Standard for Unlisted SMEs (the so-called VSME Standard). The surveys additionally include references to specific standards and disclosure requirements to improve the identification of data sources.

At the same time, this is not the end of the activities of representatives of the banking sector to facilitate the exchange of ESG data with customers. Work is underway within a dedicated working group at the Credit Information Office on the use of the ESG BIK Platform as a common source of ESG risk surveys for banks (the launch of the solution is planned for the first quarter of 2026).

We invite you to read the report and the contents of the surveys, available below.
